Congratulations on making the first step to start a healthy lifestyle. The first step is the easiest and the hardest thing to do. You know you want to lose weight, have more energy and be able to keep up with your busy life. Making lifestyle changes for better health will help you reach your goals.
One example of a small change to lose weight is drinking more water daily. I try to drink 1/2 of my body weight in ounces of water each day. For me this looks like this: I have 3 water bottles I fill up each night and put in the fridge. Two of the bottles are 32 ounces and the third is 20 ounces.
I grab one of the 32 ounce bottles in the morning when I get up to workout. I drink this during my workout and finish it up with my breakfast. I bring the other 32 ounce bottle and the 20 ounce bottle to work with me. I drink the second 32 ounce bottle during work. By noon, I have had 64 ounces of water. The third bottle I drink throughout the afternoon and into the evening. By the end of each day, I have consumed 64-84 ounces of water which is more than 1/2 my body weight.
Now, because my water intake has increased, I don’t drink other beverages like soda; well there is the occasional ginger ale with some Tito’s Vodka. Your body craves water and it is the easiest choice you can make to start your healthy lifestyle. Make this change for a week and see how you feel. We will talk about the next step to a healthy lifestyle in my next post.
By the way, all that water will help you get your steps in with all the walking to the bathroom.
