I recently have been dealing with a pinched nerve in my neck that is affecting my right arm.  I get tingling in my fingers and aching in my arm.  I decided that over the Labor Day weekend, I would take the time off from exercising and rest.  I had a hard time justifying this decision because I am so used to working out each day and it has become my routine, so not doing it was mentally hard.

My first thought was I was going to lose all the gains that I had made with my workouts and that I was going to gain a lot of weight back because I wasn’t moving my body on a daily basis.  I was starting to freak out because I work hard on my fitness and I didn’t want to move backward.  It was then that I remembered what I had learned from Autumn, Joel, Shaun T, Sagi and many of the trainers that I have worked out with on Beachbody On Demand and remembered that working out is 20% of my routine and that nutrition is 80%.

So, as I went away for the long Labor Day weekend, I made a nutrition is key plan to follow my 21 Day Fix/80 Day Obsession container plan closely and be diligent in not “going rogue” with my eating.  Eating with this nutrition is key plan helped me get the nutrition I needed in the correct portions.  I didn’t feel hungry, bloated, or excessively full.  I also had my daily Shakeology which gave me my pre and probiotics, digestive enzymes, super foods, and my vitamins and minerals that my body needed to stay healthy.  I came home from my weekend feeling pretty good and the scale showed it.

I’m back to working out daily, but my nutrition has stayed the same.  I love being consistent because it is easier than trying to figure out what to eat and how much.  These programs teach me how to use food as well as showing me that nutrition can help when exercise is not an option.
