Well, we are knee deep in social distancing. This Corona Virus is scary and I am very concerned about my family. I want to do the right thing and help my family stay healthy, so I am inside my house at all times. Yes, the occasional walk and going out only for groceries is my only contact with the outside world that doesn’t involve my computer or smart phone.
Since our world’s have done a complete 180 degree turn and we feel like we have no control, we need to see the areas where we do have control and lean into them. For me my morning routine is the best way to feel in control.
When I was working, I would get up at 4:30am, get my workout in, shower and get ready for work, eat breakfast while I went through emails, checked in on my Facebook pages and my website. Did some work for my husband’s business, made breakfast for my husband, packed lunches and left for work at 7:15am. Now, I still get up early, although not as early, get my workout in, eat my breakfast and do all the same online tasks that I would normally have done. This helps me set the tone for the day. I have energy to work around the house and I find that when I move my body first thing in the morning, I want to keep moving throughout the day. When I focus on myself first and foremost I feel like I have some control.
This also helps me with my sleep. Since I try to get up around 6:30am I make sure I’m in bed by 9:30pm. I get a good night’s sleep which also helps with my energy level. Being inside is pretty boring, especially for an extrovert like me. If you are finding it hard to be in the same space, create a routine. Make sure you stick with it and see how it can positively affect your day.
